Junior School Council
Our school is a partnership between teachers, parents, students and the community. Student input into formal decision-making is integral to our mutual success. Therefore a formal structured Junior School Council (JSC) provides students with a forum to express their views and have them heard.
Each year in February, JSC elections are conducted with students from Years 3-6 able to apply. Elections are conducted within each of the grades and every student has an equal opportunity to be selected and recognised. They are then presented with their badge at a special assembly with their parents in attendance and also through the school newsletter.
Students who form the JSC learn their roles and responsibilities. The meet regularly, provide feedback to School Council and the Principal and importantly, gather feedback and ideas from the wider school community. They work closely with the School Captains to run assemblies and other events and act as ambassadors for the school.
To be a JSC is highly sought after. JSC members are exemplary role models who put the school and their peers first and epitomise the values of Kingsbury Primary School.
